Firenze...finally!

Ciao!

So I am finally updating you all about "la bella vita!" We have been here for a few days and it has been crazy!  We moved into our apartment, it is absolutley the cutest little thing ever!  We are at the very top of a four story apartment, we have a small bedroom and bathroom, and asuper cute living room and little kitchen!  Pictures will come soon!  Our apartment is sorta like a suite, there are three different apratments that all have a common room, and however ours is by far the cutest! However, it is nice to have 6 other girls living close to us!

Once we got to Florence, the bus dropped us off about five minutes from our apartment, however, it took us about 15 min to get there because of all our luggage!  Oh, and you should have seen us trying to carry our huge 50 lb. bags up 81 stairs!  He is the steps leading up to our apartment...they are a lot narrower than they look!

This past week has been a dream!  I don't think i will ever get used to the fact that I live here..in Florence!  We have done so much it's hard to tell you everything.  So I will try to start from the beginning.  Once we got to Florence, we had two tours.  One to the Piazzale de Michelangelo, which is where all the pictures are taken of Florence are taken.  Then we took a walking tour of the historical part of the city.  Everything in Florence is a lot closer than what I expected, almost all the famous points are within 5 min walking!  Just down the street from our apartment is the Piazza della Signoria!  There are 16 original sculpures just outside in the open...here is my favorite!

This past weekend we have spent the days just walking around the city!  We walked across the Ponte Vecchio the other day and all the shops are gold stores!  The street is blinding with all the gold and diamonds!  This morning we went to the fresh market and leather market!  It was so fun bardering with the sellers, I got a painting for 3 euro and ali ended upo getting a pair or earrings for free!  Must have been her blonde hair!  Hmm...what else have we done?? There is just so much to tell, I need to not go so long without blogging next time, it's just we haven't had internet the past few days.

Whenever we go out, there is literally a gelato store on every corner, and they are soooo yummy!  Also not to mention the coffee shops! There is also a delicious sandwich store just right below our apartment and I will probably eat there for lunch almost everyday!  Oh..also there is a club literally right across the street from our apartment.  It is open on the weekends until atleast 4am and it's all American's, which means they are SUPER loud!  We had to go buy ear plugs because it was so bad.

Today was our first day of classes.  I only had one today, my Italian class! It seems like it is going to be fun!  Our professor is from Pisa and is super cool, we listened to Michael Jackson all through class while he taught! Tomorrow is my Photography class and I cannot wait!

Anyway, here are a few pics of our travels so far...

Ciao from ROMA!

Well, I am officially in Italy!  I have been in the great city of Rome for 2 days and I cannot believe it!  It is like I am on a movie set or something.  Everything is ten times more beautiful than what I thought it would be!  Pictures will come later when I have free wi-fi, but trust me they are great!  Today was my first day here and I don't think I could have jammed anymore stuff to see or do.  This morning we started off with a walking tour with headsets and everything.  Can you say "super tourist" haha!  Anyway we followed the lady to the Colloseum where we got to go inside, then the Arc of Constantine, and the Forum!  Then we went to Trastevere, which means across the river in italian.  This part of the city was the real Rome where people actually live and work and it is less touristy.  There we had lunch at this little cafè.  It was AMAZING!  The best food I have had while here!  Then after lunch we went on a bus tour of the rest of the city!  It was great to sit for a while.  That was it for today, tonight is e of our friends 21st so we are going to celebrate tonight at dinner!  Tomorrow we tour the Vatican!  Can't wait!

That's all for now! I will write more and put up pics when  have more time!

On my way!

Well, it's officialy real! I am on my way to Italy!  I left home this morning at 5:00 am...yep AM!  Right now I am sitting at the Washington D.C. airport and my layover is about 5 hours! So I have some time to get even more excited about getting to Italy.  It's crazy that it is actually here!  This next week I will be touring the Colluseum, the Vatican, and moving into my apartment in Florence!  Crazy!

So yesterday I spent all day seeing family and packing.  I went to my grandma's for lunch then my good friend, Cassi, came over to help me pack.  I definately needed it because packing for 4 months into two suitcases is a lot harder than it seems.  But we got it done!  Then my boyfriend, Alex, came up from Tulsa to send me off this morning.  He is coming to visit in two months and I cannot wait to see him!

Flying so far has been tiring.  I think United planned my gates to be in complete opposite terminals so i have to run to each gate in order to catch my next flight.  But I am settled at my last gate for Rome...finally!  It's kinda nice having a long layover, I can sit here and people watch all day!

Thats all for mow pretty much!  I'll write again when I get settled in Italy!  Ciao!

It's getting closer!!!

Well I have ten more days till I leave for Italy!  I cannot believe how close it is!  I am starting to get ready for next semester and I am realizing I don't have that much time left.  But don't get me wrong, I cannot wait to be in Italy!

These past few weeks have been so much fun!  Last week several of my friends got together and went down to Big Cedar, near Table Rock Lake.  It was tons of fun!

The next weekend I went down to TU to visit some friends for the last time before I leave.  It was tons of fun, I got to spend some time with my friends and sorority sisters one last time.

Also this week, I found out where I am living in Italy!  It is located right in the middle of Florence!  Near the Arno River and the Piazza della Signoria which is one of the popular places in Tuscany!  I cannot wait to get there!
